Silver Purity: Germany, solid Silver 800/1000 - Purpose: a round and pierced Design Bowl for Cookies or Fruits or Decoration with four feets

Dimensions & Execution: the diameter is 17,5 cm (nearly 7 inch) at the top and it is ca. 7,5 cm (nearly 3 in) high - made of solid silver with a weight of 170 grams, executed in a Late Art Nouveau Design - Maker & Age: designed and made in Heilbronn by Premium Maker Bruckmann (founded 1805), model No. 12742 - the item was executed around 1925 - Condition: shows at bottom inside two bumps and usual signs from use, otherwise ok - bottom outside (upside down) is an inscription with the dates 1920-1925 and Provenance sign (Mittelweg, Hamburg) - Assay Marks: Half Moon, Crown & 800 Silver Guarantee + Maker`s Sign - Private Collection Austria

Peter Bruckmann was founding member of the German Werkbund, which was connected with the Arts & Crafts movement and later came out in the Bauhaus.

Provenance: from a wealthy family in the Mittelweg of Hamburg - a prime residential area near the Binnenalster lake in the center of the town - comparable with eg. Knightsbridge in London or the Park Avenue in New York.

Designer Karl Wahl of Bruckmann introduced in 1922 a similar pierced bowl model no. 12503 for the Deutsche Gewerbeschau exhibition in Munich - as stated and illustrated in the reference book about Bruckmann.
