Notes:
Aagaard was previously a seafarer and visited many European places before he studied at the art school in Trondhjem and at C. Krogh and H. Backer in Oslo and became a marine artist. Most of his motifs are from Norway and show vessels on the open sea or in fjord settings. He exhibited his works from 1890 on in Oslo, 1898 in Bergen and 1900 at the World Exhibition in Paris. Several of his paintings are executed in large dimensions and he was active as an artist from ca. 1888 until 1912.
