Adam spent all his life in Le Havre and painted between 1872 and 1920 about 1,200 to 2,000 oil paintings, most of these have large dimensions (eg. 60 x 90 cm). He changed his style during the time only slightly and had two sons (Victor Edouard and Edmond), who continued the tradition. Many of his works depict steamers around the turn of the century. A picture of his signature can be found here. More information about the artist and his oeuvre can be found in our book "Ship Portrait Artists". |
