Notes:
|
The art of Anderson was strongly influenced by the Dutch Masters of the 17th Century. Often he executed work of small dimensions but containing fine details and figures. He worked predominately in watercolour and his signature is often "hidden" in parts of the ship or other places. Most of his works are dated as well. William Anderson exhibited from 1787-1834 at the Royal Academy in London and he was an appreciated marine artist in his time. Today his pictures can be found in different European Museums and Collections. |
