Lived and worked in Copenhagen, Denmark

Ship Portraits and Seascapes, Harbour or Coastal motifs and also romantic moonlight scenes

Notes:
Bille received first hand nautical experience through his former profession as a seafarer and started his artistic career at the age of 35. Although widely known for his romantic seascapes, he also did a few ship portraits prior to 1867. Quite a few paintings of inferior quality bear his signature or are wrongly attributed. Information about the artist can also be found in our book "Ship Portrait Artists".
