In German: Yacht-Kommode mit vier Schubladen und integrierter Schreibplatte, in zwei Teilen, England, Anfang 20. Jhd.

The red leather of the writing plate has been changed at some time during the last century. The plate can be lifted to store papers in the drawer. The inset brass handles at the drawers and the brass bound edges are typical features of such Marine Campaign Furniture. The drawers have a dovetail construction for sturdy durability. Please note on the following photos that one piece of wood has been used for both side parts (the pattern of the wood is continued), which is a sign for a marine chest of good quality:

There are some signs of age and use (such as light cracks, wear, light scratches etc.) - as it can be expected with such a furniture. These have not been removed during cleaning and restoration, since they are part of the Patina. When visiting an English Country House which is decorated with the original furniture you will note that items are preserved exactly like this. Following my experience with other chests condition is overall very good. All brass material is there and is original. All drawers can be opened easily and this prestigious marine furniture is suitable for daily use as well.
