Notes:
The progenitor of the well known De Simone family from Naples. He used light Mediterranean colors and often added the Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples in the background. Although the overall impression is usually rather nice it was not his strength to depict each detail of the vessels. In contrast to the later members of the family who worked mainly in Gouache, he preferred oilpaintings and usually signed them with his full name or "T. De Simone". Information about the artist can also be found in our book "Ship Portrait Artists" .
