Louis Douzette was an appreciated German marine and landscape painter, who is especially known for his moonlight harbor impressions from the North or Baltic Sea. He travelled as an artist within Germany, to Italy, Paris and Scandinavia and exhibited his works from 1866 on in Berlin, Vienna, Munich, Dusseldorf, Hamburg and Dresden. Douzette was influenced by the Dutch Old Masters and developed, especially in his later works, an impressionistic style. He always signed his paintings "L. Douzette", but did not always add a date. His pictures can be found today in several German Museums. |
