Franco, H. (Italian/Austrian, active c. 1850-70) - Oilpaintings on canvas
Place:
Lived and worked in Trieste, Italy (at that period Austrian seaport) and Dubrovnic (former Yugoslavia).
Motifs:
Ship Portraits of local and foreign Sailing Vessels

Notes:
A ship portrait painter of Trieste with a rather limited output. His style and execution is similar to that of Basi Ivancovich. The handling of the sea is fluid and he used a palette with warm colours. Information about Franco can also be found in our book "Ship Portrait Artists".
