Notes:
|
Theodore Gudin represents with his earlier detailed works (before 1850) the Continental European Romantic Movement. Later his brush became more impressionistic. In all his works the light and atmosphere are rather important for him. As an artist he traveled to Algiers, Warschau, St. Petersburg and Berlin. From 1837 on he exhibited his works at the Salon in Paris, the Academy in Dresden, at the Royal Academy in London and 1871 in Vienna. He was appointed member of the Academy in Berlin and received the Cross of the Legion of Honour in France. |
