Notes:
One of the leading artists of the Liverpool School. He used a well balanced composition, depicting the vessel in one or two positions off Gibraltar, Capetown or other foreign locations. His fluid handling of the sea and his palette of bright colors add to the appeal. Information about the artist and his oeuvre can also be found in our book "Ship Portrait Artists". Another Liverpool ship portrait artist, who produced high quality works was Isaac Heard (1804-1869).
