We are looking for works by:

Lamartiniere, Alexandre (French, 1783-1867) - Reverse on Glass Paintings
Worked and lived in Dunkerque, France.
Ship Portraits of Sailing Vessels, mainly of French Nationality.
Reverse on glass paintings starting at Euro 800 (Continental Europe). Prices depend on subject, size, date, quality and condition. Please send us an e-mail to receive an exact offer for your painting (free of charge for persons considering to sell their painting).
Lamartiniere received some training in Ostend and started painting votive paintings and ship portraits later in Dunkerque. His style ranges from somewhat naive to quite good. Some of his paintings show a special feature: the background is painted separately on board and placed approximately one centimetre behind the pane of glass, thus achieving a three-dimensional effect. Information about the artist and his oeuvre can also be found in our book "Ship Portrait Artists".
The FineArtEmporium might be interested in the direct purchase or brokerage of fine works by this artist (in Europe only, NOT overseas). Please refer to our page "Contact" and send an e-mail to bais(at) with the information requested there. You will receive an answer usually within 48-72 hours (up to a week in rare cases).
