J. T. Locher produced ship portraits of remarkable quality (with only few exceptions), the handling of the sea is quite realistic and we often find a large palette of colours used in the sky. The sailing vessels are depicted in every detail often with Kronborg Castle in the distance. He had a son Carl Locher, who produced in his early years also some ship portraits.
