Place:
Worked and lived in Venice, Italy.
Motifs:
Ship Portraits, often with local background.

Notes:
A member of the Luzzo family, whose style is very similar to that of Giovanni. He was apparently active mainly in the 1870s and of the small number of well done ship portraits he produced very few have survived the course of time. Information about the artist and his oeuvre can also be found in our book "Ship Portrait Artists" .

Vincenzo Luzzo (Italian, fl. 1860-85) - Ship Portrait of the German Schooner-Brigg LORENZ (of Hamburg) 1885, the vessel is shown under full sail off Venice with the Marcus Square – Watercolor – 40 x 59 cm (15 3/4 x 23 1/4 in.) – signed "Luzzo Vincenzo, Peintyer Venice", dated and incribed with title – The Werder Collection

Note: The Schooner-Brigg *Lorenz* was built by Carsten Wriede in Finkenwerder for Lorenz von Ehren (1789-1870) and Harm Bohm of Teufelsbrücke. It had 64,5 CL or 126 GRT respectively, was flying the flag Z 82 and signal LDRH. The Captains were Heinrich von Ehren of Teufelsbrücke, Nicolaus Breckwoldt, Hans Kröger, Peter Lindemann, Peter H. Grau und J. Lindemann. In the year 1886 the vessel was lost at sea near Buenos Ayres. Click on the image to enlarge the picture. Photo Copyright is with the Werder Collection, Germany.
