Place:	Lived and worked in Newhaven, Great Britain
Motifs:	Ship Portraits of Cross Channel Paddle or Screw Steamers, occasionally Yachts

Notes:	Mears worked as an official artist to a railway company for which he portrayed many of their steamers, but also other sailing vessels and yachts. He used to work with a larger size canvas (appox. 50 x 100 cm). A feature of his paintings is the small coastline in the far distance.
