Mears worked as an official artist to a railway company for which he portrayed many of their steamers, but also other sailing vessels and yachts. He used to work with a larger size canvas (appox. 50 x 100 cm). A feature of his paintings is the small coastline in the far distance. Information about the artist and his oeuvre can also be found in our book "Ship Portrait Artists". |
