Second Shell of the Pair
This is a rare pair of French Folk Art items. The inside of the mother of pearl shell is decorated (painted) with a pictures of French transistion Steamers (two- / three-masted). At the lower part of the shell there is mounted a Fisherman (& his wife) made of Terracotta. The detail on the figures is wonderful. These items were made on the French Atlantic coast, possibly in Brittany and likely for a British seafarer. Please note that these pieces might look larger on your PC monitor than in reality (enlarged images)

Presented by the FineArtEmporium in Hamburg.
