Place:
Lived and worked in Liverpool, Great Britain.
Motifs:
Ship Portraits, mainly of sailing vessels.

Notes:
Witham produced fine and professionally executed portraits of sailing vessels and steamers. His style was influenced by other marine artists of the time and area (e.g. Samuel Walters). *Mary Jane* c. 1850 – The English Paddle Steamer with auxiliary sails set at sea – Oil on canvas – 61 x 92 cm – indistinctly signed – needed to be cleaned when appeared
*Pilot No. 1* 1897 – The Steam Pilot boat with auxiliary sails set at sea with sailing vessels in the distance and a companion (Fleet in a Squall) – Oil on canvas – 41 x 61 cm – signed and dated
*Pilot No. 1* c. 1880 – The Schooner rigged Pilot Sailing boat at sea with a Barque in the distance – Oil on canvas – 38 x 59 cm – signed
