The son of William Gay Yorke who spent all his life in Liverpool and was a professional artist with a high output. During his active time between 1858 until 1913 he painted well executed ship portraits showing an accurate view of the ship with all nautical details. A trait of his later paintings are hull reflections at bow and stern in the sea. Information about the artist and his oeuvre can also be found in our book "Ship Portrait Artists". |

It was commanded in 1896 by Capt. Nils Hansen Sunde and belonged to the Klaveness Company. In 1892 it was destroyed by a fire during a journey to Durban. |

Olsen and used to sail to East India, The Americas and within Europe. It was build 1864 in Gefle and measured at 959 tons net. In 1892 it was given up during a journey from Cardiff to Buenos Aires. |
