Renault, Leghorn" and inscribed with title - 52 x 67 cm (20 1/2 x 26 3/8 in.) – The Werder Collection, Germany

Note: The Schooner *Otto* was built on the shipyard Otto Dolck in Altona for Hans Lange sen. in the year 1847. It had 123 GRT and could be identified by the ensign " Z 92". Michele Funno (Italian, fl. 1837-65) - Ship Portrait of the "Brig John Downie - Captn. T. Armstrong 1862", the British vessel under full sail approaching in the Bay of Naples with Vesuvius beyond - inscribed with title - Gouache (behind glass) - 41 x 66 cm (16 1/8 x 26 in.) - large (4 in.) black passepartout with gilted lines and bird`s eye maple frame (dimensions with the frame: 67 x 88 cm - 26 3/8 x 36 5/8 in.) - very good condition (slight spots and dirt in the sky, slight retouching to a few parts in the sky) - Collection in Germany

Giovanni Luzzo (Italian, fl. 1851-77) - Ship Portrait of the German Schoonerbrig CATHARINA Capt. H. Dreier 1869 - inscribed with title: "Unter der Küste von Norwegen am 22ten März 1869 Schiff Catharina Capt. H.Dreier" - the vessel of Blankenese under reduced sails off the Norwegian coast – Watercolor – 41 x 61 cm (16 x 24 in.) – signed "Gio Luzzo Venice" and dated – The Werder Collection - Click on the image to see larger photos

Note: The Catharina (168 GRT) was built on the shipyard of D.W.Kremer in Elmshorn for Thies Breckwoldt and Heinrich Dreyer in 1865. It was flying the flag "Z 102" or signal "LDVK". The captains Thies Breckwoldt, Heinrich Dreyer, Johs. Kröger and Johs. Bohn were in command. On the 2nd of November 1878 the Catharina left Antwerp and was bound for Rio Grande do Sul. It was Johs. Bohns first and only voyage on the Catharina. It is believed that the vessel sank in stormy seas between the 8th and 11th of November, some debris was washed ashore on the French coast near Ploumanache. Six members of the crew died at sea.

Note: The *Anna* was built in 1859 and under the command of Capt. Bartels. It had 94 tons and 5 men crew. A chronometer was not on board (which made navigation not easier!). Click here or on the image to see larger illustrations.

Note: This painting is framed under the antique glass and a delicate picture. We are currently offering it only for Germany and selected European destinations. The "Adolph" was built in 1867 in Apenrade and measured at 208 Tons. In 1878 it belonged to E.E. Nielsen & Capt. in Rudkobing (Rudkjobing) of Langeland (a Danish Island in the Baltic Sea). Note: The Barque *Bride* was bought by the Rostock shipping company Carl Rathens in the year 1887 in Sunderland (GB). Features: The Hull was covered in copper, 830(863) RGT, Signal MDNC. The following captains were in command of the ship: J. Müller from 1887 to 1889, Pagels from 89-91, Bliemester from 1891, the ship was sold to Norway the same year.
